Trenitalia’s Pop and Rock trains, dedicated to the everyday commuters, were presented in Turin in November 2017. 33 thousand people visited the Trenitalia Village #lamusicastacambiando, set up in the historic Piazza Castello. Children, young people and elderly, as well as passing tourists boarded the full-scale models (1: 1) of the new trains, to see and appreciate in detail all the features destined to positively revolutionize the commuters travel experience from 2019. The new regional fleets – a total of 300 Rock and 150 Pop trains – make up the super supply of 450 new trainsets for over € 4 billion which, for economic value and number of trains, is unprecedented in Italy.

Project

“Change your tune”, and so do all commuters with the new Rock and Pop trains, which will ensure the revolution of regional rail transport and will encourage people to choose the train, leaving the car at home, thanks to better standards, performance and more comfort. In addition, the two new trains ensure high environmental sustainability, in fact, they are 96% recyclable with a 30% reduction in energy consumption. For the two new trains on display at Piazza Castello in Turin, Trenitalia chose Colcom’s hinges for tempered glass doors. Rock and Pop cockpits were in fact closed with the side hinges 8652.

Product

Side hinges for narrow jambs and tempered glass doors were used for this project. All the solutions are in aluminum with Colcom finishes which, with linear and square shapes, perfectly adapt to various types of internal doors.
